An esteemed Russian general has been declared dead following an blast in Moscow, according to official statements.

The event took place on Monday morning when an explosive device concealed beneath a vehicle was set off, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov held the position of the head of the armed forces' unit responsible for operational readiness.
