Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside as per the current authorization. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
The club conducted a public practice at the Camp Nou in early November. The club said they are seeking authorization from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
