Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
