The newest action-packed title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those things.
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in each season.
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant belief and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the core of society through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common bold, daring style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
