Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with performances like these.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
