Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after winning their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
