Torrential Rains Exacerbate Conditions for Displaced Gazans, Agencies Alert

Heavy rains over the past week have worsened the already dire situation of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the territory, as stated by aid groups.

"Horrendous" Conditions Brings Serious Dangers

A spokesman described the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"The recent weather was exceptionally terrible for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the winds were so strong," said the spokesperson.

Officials express extreme anxiety that children residing in makeshift shelters in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Loss

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the severe weather.

Other reports indicate a increased fatality count. Officials reported that several structures had collapsed completely and dozens had been partly destroyed.

Relief Distribution Considered Not Enough
