House Democrats have published a additional set of what they termed "alarming" photographs from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 photographs—a portion of which have been seen before—plus another 70 released later on Friday account for a small number of the almost 100,000 images handed over to the House oversight committee, which is examining the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being accused of sex-trafficking offenses.
Featured among the notable figures seen in the opening set are celebrities including film director Woody Allen; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin conglomerate.
Donald Trump appears in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are redacted.
The White House addressed the release in a official comment, accusing Democrats of purposefully "cherry-picking" the pictures for partisan aims and to "attempt to fabricate a false account."
"That partisan falsehood against President Trump has been consistently disproven," a White House spokesperson said, insisting that "the current government has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by consistently demanding disclosure, releasing reams of papers, and urging further investigations into Epstein's liberal connections."
The photographs were released lacking captions, but per a Democratic representative from California and ranking member of the investigative panel, they raise more questions about Epstein's connections to the rich and powerful.
"Now is the occasion to stop this White House obfuscation and deliver justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his well-connected allies," he declared in a comment.
The disclosure of these materials occurs alongside the House panel pressing on with its probe into the Epstein case.
